FRUGAL DOUGAL

Welcome to a More Frugal Life Being thrifty has been practiced all over the world since the first humans first started living. The throw away society is a recent creation and squandering our resources is both foolish and short-sighted.

Whether you want to get out of debt, live a more sustainable lifestyle, work less hours and spend more quality time with your family, save for something or just be better off at the end of each month, marshalling your assets and thinking about what you buy and how you buy it can help you do all these and more. It will put you in control of your finances and the choices you make.

Saving just £1 a day comes to a whopping £365 at the end of the year.

Think just what you could you use that money for?

Put it to one side and use it to buy something or to pay a debt off.

Save it in an high interest account to gain more money on it.

Use it to replace household items buying them with cash not credit.

Treat yourself to a holiday or some new clothing.

By making small changes in the way you live you can save £100's a year without the need to feel deprived.

Check out our frugal hints and tips pages. Each one tells you how time consuming they are and how much you will save. Many money-saving deas are environmental savers too.

By using your old T-shirts as cleaning rags you are not gobbling up expensive resources to produce cleaning cloths. When I was a child in the sixties everyone had a rag-bag hung up behind the cellar door where all the old clothes that could not be altered, or passed on to someone else were put. They became wash rags, floor cloths, shoe cloths and never mind buying scrim old blankets were used for that.  Almost everyone did it and the few people who bought cleaning clothes and sponges etc were considered spendthrifts.
